Vegan BBQ Recipes

Its that time of of year, kick off to BBQ season

image

Getting together with friends and loved ones.

The smell of yummy, vegan, food cooking on the grill.

I figured now would be a good time to share with you some really good, BBQ worthy, vegan recipes. I put together some great recipes from some of my fellow bloggers. I also threw in one really quick , very simple, but very good recipe of my own.

What is a BBQ without burgers? Don’t worry I got you covered. Here is a really good grillable vegan veggie burger recipe from one of my favorite food bloggers.

image

Click on this link to get the full recipe from The Minimalist Baker.

One of my favorite things to grill are Kabobs,  veggie kabobs to be exact.  Who doesn’t like kabobs!? Everything tastes better on a stick…Am I right!?  Here is another great recipe from an awesome vegan food blogger:

image

Click on this link for this great Ratatouille Kabobs recipe.

Oh, and don’t forget good old corn on the cob is awesome grilled. To keep it vegan and healthy leave off the butter and salt. Instead sprinkle it with pepper, garlic, paprika, to spice it up, or any other seasonings and spices you like. The possibilities are endless. If you want salt on your corn use sea salt.

Ok, we’ve got the burgers and the veggies covered. Now it’s time for the sweet stuff. What is a summer cook out without watermelon?  Not a cookout as far as I’m concerned!

But wait this ain’t your average watermelon and it ain’t too sweet either.  We’ll just call it watermelon turned up a notch.

All you need for this Notched up Watermelon is:

One watermelon 🍉

One  jar of  Chile Lime Seasoning Blend. I got mine at Trader Joe’s

watermelon 002Now for the hard part…

Slice the watermelon into cubes

Sprinkle watermelon cubes with Chile Lime seasoning

watermelon 003Enjoy! 🙂

Hope you enjoy all these recipes!

If you try any of them, let me know what you think.

I love reading your comments and answering your questions.

Hope you have a relaxing rest of the holiday weekend.

🇺🇸 Happy Memorial Day 🇺🇸

New… Califia Vegan Cold Brewed Coffee Drinks At Target

califia 003

Frank and I were at Target in Gainesville FL the other day buying paper towels and stuff like that.  Yeah I know…so exciting😏

But wait, it got exciting, very exciting!  As we walked past a refrigerator case we noticed  up on the very top shelf  were Califia Cold Brewed vegan coffe drinks.  They are new. Made with almond milk and had the vegan V right on the back of the bottle. Yay!!!

We knew we had to try them

califia 004

I went for the Dirty Chi Latte. Frank favored the Cocoa Noir.

They also had  Salted Caramel and a unsweetened, unflavored option.

I have to admit, we didn’t drink them right away. They sat in the fridge for about a week.

This past weekend we were heading down to Ruskin Fl, 2  1/2 hours away from us, to visit my parents and to have a much needed beach day.

We didn’t leave for Ruskin until around 9:30 pm. We looked at each other and said ” are you thinking what I’m thinking”  perfect time to try the new vegan cold brewed coffee drinks!

We packed up the car, grabbed the Califia coffees and were on our way.

We both tried our drinks, in the car, at the same time. I liked mine and Frank liked his.

califia 002

Then we tried each other’s. Frank like mine and I liked his.

califia 001

They both were good and definitely something we would buy again. We both want to try the Salted Caramel. Yum!

They are good to have in the fridge for a quick grab and out the door type thing. I probably wouldn’t drink one every morning or even once a week. They are more of a treat type of drink when you are craving something more then just regular coffee. It’s  like a little trip to the coffe shop right inside your fridge ☕️

Califia Cold Brewed Coffee is worth a try

If you do give them a try let me know what you think

Also let me know what flavor is your favorite

Vegan Cinnamon Ginger Caramelized Apple Almond Butter Toast

What to have for breakfast today?

I just bought a nice bunch of apples at Trader Joe’s, so apples it will be.

It’s a nice break from my usual banana something or other. Don’t get me wrong, I still love my bananas!

I also had some yummy almond butter made fresh from Wards Market.

Match that up with some organic sprouted wheat berry, barley and millet bread, a few dashes of ginger and cinnamon and you got yourself a satisfying, healthy, yummy breakfast.

Hell Yes! You heard me right!

Vegans rejoice, and non-vegans for that matter!

Baileys has just released a new Liqueur to their line.

Almande

Its a vegan nondairy Almondmilk Liqueur

Just think of the possibilities

Vegan eggnog, on homemade nondairy ice cream, in vegan baked goods, in your after dinner coffee drink. The possibilities are endless

oh wait vegan ” milk shakes “, smoothies…

Ok I got a little carried away, I’m better now

The best part of all of this is, big name brand company’s are starting to recognize that there is a vegan market out there.

That not everyone fits into the same shell.

Yay for Baileys!

Yay for living in a country where we are free to be what we want to be.

and

Yay to all of you for taking the time to read my little Blog!❤️

Vegan Raw & Organic Kombucha

Kombucha?!

kombucha 001

Never  heard of it; then today is your lucky day

As you can probably tell by the picture, it’s a drink. A wonderful healthy, good for you drink.

Kombucha is a probiotic beverage that is naturally fermented.

It originated in the Far East around 2,000 years ago. It was know by the Chinese as the “Immortal Health Elixir”. It has numerous health benefits.  Some health professionals feel that we should drink Kombucha everyday .

Here are some of the benefits of Kombucha

image

The brand I drink is GT’S, I purchase it at Trader Joe’s.  The flavor I am currently drinking is Gingerade.  Yes I know I have an addiction to anything ginger. Not such a bad addiction to have since ginger also happens to be very good for you…ok that’s another post. It does come in other flavors too.

It’s vegan, gluten free, non GMO, raw, and organic. It comes in a 16 oz glass bottle. I don’t drink it all at once, I usually get around three days from one bottle.

8 oz has 30 calories and 0 fat, only 2g sugar and 10 mg sodium.

It’s  slightly naturally carbonated. You will notice stuff floating around in it or settled at the bottom…DONT SHAKE the bottle it’s meant to be drank the way it is. Also keep it refrigerated.

It’s not a sweet tasting drink. The flavor I drink tastes more like a bitter Ginger Ale. If you don’t like the taste try different flavors until you find one you can handle. The health benefits definitely out weigh the taste.

I hope you find this post helpful and will give Kombucha a try.

Feel free to purchase other brands and flavors. Please, just make sure they’re vegan, raw, non GMO, and organic.

**If you are preganant or nursing you should check with your doctor before drinking Kombucha.

Let me know if you try Kombucha, what brand, and flavor and what you think about it.

Or if you’ve been drinking Kombucha for a while let me know your favorite brand and flavor.

I’d also like to hear if you try Kombucha and think it’s the worst thing ever!!!

As always, your questions and comments are more then welcomed.

Vegan Matcha Superfood Latte With Tahini

msfl_001

So yesterday  around 3:00 I was in the mood for a latte.  Not a run out to Starbucks kind of latte, but a thick creamy make at home good for me latte.

Hmmmmm, what to make. A-ha, I knew exactly what to do. Grab my tablet and headed on over to my Pinterest board, Smoothies & Shakes & Lattes…oh my.  Check out the board at

ALLUNEEDISKALE

I searched  through all the awesome pins until I found what I was craving.

Matcha green tea and tahini, no way! I  knew couldn’t go wrong with that!

I gathered up all the ingredients I needed and because I have a well stocked vegan pantry I had them all.

Before I knew it,  I was in latte heaven. The smell alone was heavenly. 😍

Yum, yum, yum, is all I can say. I’m actually drinking it as I’m writing this post. ☕️

So Being  the giving person that I am, I’m going to share this recipe with you…I know, yay, right?!

click on the link and you too can be in  Latte Heaven! ☕️

msfl_002

I used black sesame seeds on top of my latte, it looked so pretty.

I hope you like this recipe as much as I do.

Vegan Italian Sausage Sandwich

sausage 002I have to admit I’ve been kind of craving an Italian sausage sandwich with peppers and onions  ever since Mindy, one of my followers, left a comment  about having one on my post about the vegan hotdogs.

Well last night I finally gave into the craving and all I can say is…Thank you Mindy!!!

It was so good, even better then the vegan hotdogs.

Oh and did I mention one sausage link has 30g of protein!

So now the next time a non-vegan asks me where I get my protein, I’ll tell them from Vegan Italian sausage😀

I purchased the sausage at Trader Joes, it was only $2.99 for 4 links, which I thought was pretty good.

sausage 001a

Actually all of the ingredients I used in the making of my yummy sandwich came from Trader Joe’s

I used Stone Ground Whole Wheat Buns

sausage 003

I also used some Trader Joe’s pizza sauce.

Sauteed up some peppers and onions.

sausage 001

Put everything on the bun and…Yum!

sausage 002

So like I said in my post about the vegan hotdogs, it’s ok to give into your cravings sometimes. Just keep it healthy and vegan.  We are human😊

If you try this or any brand of vegan Italian Sausage I would love to know what you think.

Or if you gave into a craving, I’d love to know what it was.  I may want to try it!

Vegan Loaded Oatmeal

loadoat 004Oatmeal is a great way to start your  day.  It’s good for you, it’s quick and easy, and you can add pretty much anything to it.  It’s a nice hearty satisfying breakfast that will keep you going until lunch.

I eat oatmeal almost every morning.  I make my basic oatmeal recipe and add whatever I’m in the mood for that morning. Sometimes it’s simple, maybe three ingredients. Then other times it’s…oatmeal gone wild!

Today I’m sharing with you the oatmeal gone wild , AKA-Vegan Loaded Oatmeal.

The base recipe is simply

loadoat 001

Ingredients:

  • 1/2 C rolled oats
  • 1 C almond milk
  • 1 tsp vanilla extract
  • pinch of sea salt

Directions

  1. pour the rolled oats and almond milk into a small pan
  2. cook on medium heat stirring occasionally
  3. once the oats start to boil reduce heat to simmer
  4. add the vanilla extract and sea salt
  5. let simmer for a few minutes stirring occasionally
  6. once the oatmeal has reached your desired consistency spoon into a serving bowl

loadoat 002

Now here comes the loaded part.  Yay!

This is how I make mine.  Feel free to alter the amounts, leave things out, or add your own ingredients in.  This is your oatmeal, load it how you want…go wild!

Toppings I use for my Vegan Loaded Oatmeal

  • 1-2 tbsp coconut sugar
  • 2 dashes of cinnamon
  • 3 dashes ground ginger
  •  1-2 tsp chia seeds
  • 1-2 tbsp peanut butter
  • about 2 tbsp chopped almonds or pecans
  • about a handful of unsweetened shredded coconut, the large shreds.

This oatmeal would also taste great with maple syrup or ginger syrup drizzled on top.

You could make a large family size pot of the oatmeal base and divide it into separate bowls.  Then put out a bunch of toppings and let everyone make their own Loaded Oatmeal.   Let the whole family go wild!

loadoat 003

Hope you enjoy this recipe!

If you make this recipe, let me know how you like it.

If you come up with your own wild Loaded Oatmeal, I would love to hear about it!!!
